Unwanted facial hair causes a lot of inconvenience and often causes numerous complexes. It is quite problematic to get rid of boring hairs on your own, they quickly grow back and become darker and tougher, while continuing to attract increased attention. Facial hair removal using professional exposure compares favorably with home methods. Its main advantage is the ability to get rid of hair for a period of 2 – 3 years or more.
- 1 Photoepilation
- 2 Laser Hair Removal
- 3 Electrolysis
- 4 Elos-epilation
- 5 Other methods of hair removal
One of the most popular ways to deal with unwanted hairs is photoepilation, however, it should be noted that it is rarely used to remove facial hair. This trend is explained by the fact that the device used to generate light pulses is more suitable for processing large problem areas and does not provide a point effect.
Indications for use
Carrying out photoepilation is important for removing hair of black or dark color, subject to light, tanned skin. The latter requirement is desirable but optional. It should be remembered that if it is not observed, the effectiveness of the procedure is significantly reduced.
Hair removal by this method occurs due to pulses of light energy, which is absorbed by the pigment melanin contained in dark hair. Inside the hair, light is converted into heat and destroys its structure right up to the base. A few days after the procedure, the hair falls out and does not grow in the same place for 2-5 years.
Before the procedure, it is necessary to observe the simplest preparation measures, they include the rejection of sunbathing (2 weeks before exposure), and the removal of hair on the surface of the skin with a razor (2-3 days before exposure).
Light pulses act exclusively on hair in the stage of active growth, in this regard, in one session, no more than 30 percent of their total number is eliminated. To achieve the full effect of smoothness of the skin, it is necessary to take a course from 5-7 procedures.
Complications are rarely observed after the procedure, but side effects such as hyperemia, soreness, mild swelling, and sometimes burns, may be present.
Laser Hair Removal
Laser hair removal is a reliable alternative to photo hair removal and another technique involving light exposure. It is great for working with small sized problem areas of the face, as it provides a point effect.
Indications for use
Carrying out laser hair removal is important for combating hair in both dark and light colors. At the same time, skin tone is not a determining factor, the main thing is to choose the right kind of laser radiation.
Types of laser and the principle of their action
In cosmetology, four types of laser are used, each of which has a unique wavelength, specific indications and principle of action:
- Diode laser. 800 nm wavelength, used to eliminate dark hair on fair skin. The principle of its action is based on the absorption of laser pulses with the pigment melanin, the conversion of light into heat and the destruction of the hair from the inside. It is characterized by the slowness of the impact.
- Ruby laser. The wavelength of 694 nm is used to eliminate dark hair on fair skin, the principle of operation is identical to a diode laser. It differs in the efficiency of the work, but rather painful sensations in its process.
- Alexandrite Laser. The wavelength of 755 nm is used to eliminate black, brown and dark blond hair, subject to fair skin. The principle of operation is identical to that described above, a distinctive feature is the high frequency of the pulses.
- Neodymium laser. It has a wavelength of 1064 nm, is used to combat hair of any color, regardless of skin type. The principle of the technique is unique, the laser acts directly on the vessels that feed the hair root. Under the influence of heat received from light energy, they are sealed, and hair ceases to receive food and fall out.
The procedure requires simple preparatory measures. Before laser hair removal, do not sunbathe and remove root hairs. 2-3 days before the procedure, they must be shaved, and the skin in the problem area thoroughly cleaned.
As in the case of photoepilation, with laser exposure, light pulses act only on the hairs in the stage of active growth. For complete hair removal, at least 5 sessions will be required, carried out at intervals of 1-2 months.
Subject to safety precautions during the procedure, expressed complications are excluded, however, temporary side effects are still possible. They are expressed in redness of the skin, burns and mild swelling.
Eliminating facial hair with electric current is the most preferred method. This technique involves the fight with each specific hair separately, while the nearest skin is not affected.
Indications for use
Electric hair removal is suitable for dealing with any type of hair, regardless of color, stiffness and other characteristics. In addition, skin color also does not have any effect on the effectiveness of the process.
During the procedure, the effect is directly on each hair individually, while the skin around is not affected and is not damaged. A special sensor electrode is used for processing, it captures the hair and delivers an electric current to its base, which destroys the hair follicle.
Electric hair removal involves minimal pre-treatment. Beauticians ask 4-6 days before the procedure to shave the area of unwanted hair and refrain from using cosmetics on the day of exposure.
It should be noted that hair removal of this type is extremely painful and is always accompanied by unpleasant sensations. To reduce them is quite possible by using local anesthetic creams.
After the procedure, marked redness of the skin is observed, discomfort may be felt, slight swelling may be observed.
The methods described above have become the basis of modern Elos-hair removal, which implies a complex effect to combat unwanted hairs. It is carried out by means of optical light energy (IPL) and radio frequency energy (RF), it is characterized by increased efficiency and the ability to deal with hairs of any type.
The cost of the procedure is determined by many factors, the time spent on the procedure, the number of outbreaks, the size of the problem area.
Other methods of hair removal
Methods for removing facial hair can be supplemented with techniques such as sugar or waxing. Such methods provide less prolonged results, after their implementation the skin remains smooth for a maximum of 30-40 days.
The principle of the procedure is to apply an adhesive mass to the hair and its subsequent elimination by abrupt breakdown from the skin surface. As a result of such exposure, the hairs are removed with the root, and subsequently become weaker and brighter, giving their owner less discomfort.
Facial hair removal can be done in several ways. Choosing the best solution for combating vegetation, cosmetologists are guided by the color of the hairs and skin of the patient, as well as the available contraindications and individual characteristics of his body. The most popular procedures at the moment are photoepilation, ELOS — hair removal, laser and electric hair removal, as well as shugaring and waxing.
