Vitamin B16 – Cosmetology, plastic surgery and diets

Vitamin B16

Vitamin B16 is a member of the amino acid group consisting of choline, betaine, sarcosine and glycine. The chemical structure of the substance in some measure resembles water-soluble vitamins. The non-protein amino acid DMG at the cellular level plays the role of a metabolic transition from choline to glycine or methionine.

At certain points in life, many people think about replenishing their diets with additional vitamins. Therefore, some more carefully select food for the daily menu, others trust their health to the pharmaceutical industry. But the goal is the same for everyone – to provide the body with the necessary minerals and vitamins, strengthen the immune system and develop resistance to diseases. Most often, people focus on the most well-known microelements, and not least due to advertising propaganda.

So it is possible that today many will hear for the first time about the beneficial properties of the substance B16, known by its “code” name – “non-existent vitamin.” Where does this strange name come from and what’s useful for V16 for a person now let’s try to figure it out.

Vitamin, which does not exist

Vitamin B16, also known as dimethylglycine, N, N-dimethylglycine, dimethylaminoacetic acid or DMG, is more of a dietary supplement than a real vitamin and is derived from the amino acid glycine. The process of absorption of vitamin B16 by the human body occurs in the small intestine, and the liver transforms the resulting substance into metabolites useful for the body.

Dimethylglycine plays the role of a building block for DNA, amino acids, neurotransmitters and hormones. The chemical compound, called biochemists DMG, is known to have a positive effect on the cardiovascular system, the blood circulation process and the strengthening of muscle tissue.

Medicine refuses to call B16 a vitamin, since even its complete absence does not affect the human body. While at the same time, many agree: dimethylglycine (DMG) enhances physical endurance and immunity, and also gives positive results in the treatment of autism, epilepsy and mitochondrial diseases.

Meanwhile, many people today agree that B16 is something more than a normal dietary supplement. Being a so-called metal donor, dimethylglycine is involved in many biochemical processes. The most important result is the neutralization of toxins at the cellular level and the protection of the DNA structure. In nature, the amino acid B16 is found in plant and animal products. The largest reserves of a substance are identified in legumes, cereals and liver.

The beneficial effects on the immune system have been confirmed by numerous clinical studies. The effect of B16 on metabolism and its positive effect on the detoxification process of the body is also proven. These unique properties make dimethyl glycine an almost ideal anti-fatigue remedy. Acting as a tonic biostimulator, DMG is able to affect the body throughout the day. Due to these properties, dimethylglycine in the 1970-ies was one of the most popular dietary supplements that prevent fatigue. True, then he was mistakenly called vitamin B15.

Two lives of vitamin B16

It seems that no other vitamin had to go through as many “rebirths” and repeated “discoveries” as B16. DMG was first discussed in the 1960’s. Then the substance was called a dietary supplement and in the group of vitamins B was placed under the number 15. In those years, other names were also used for the bioadditive – pangamic acid or calcium pangamate. In fact, B15 was a mixture of calcium gluconate and DMG, and the main role of this substance was only to supply dimethylglycine to the body. Meanwhile, in dietary supplements called pangamic acid, dimethylglycine did not smell.

By now, this confusion has been eliminated, and both substances have received the correct names: pangamic acid – B15 (classified as a vitamin-like substance), dimethylglycine – B16 (most often referred to the group of dietary supplements, since its vital need for humans has not been proved). But in the process of certain biochemical processes, DMG is transformed in the body into a water-soluble substance B15.

As a methyl donor, DMG takes part in detoxifying the body at the cellular level and corrects chemical damage in DNA. Also, without resorting to a detailed description of complex chemical processes, we note that DMG helps vitamins, proteins, fats and hormones to perform their functions. Cells additionally enriched with oxygen (with the help of В16), more quickly enter into metabolic reactions, strengthen the immune system. 5-gram portion of B16 taken daily can improve health and significantly increase stamina. What has been proven by many experiments.

How DMG works

Dimethylglycine, although it was baptized as a “non-existent vitamin”, has been known in pharmacology for quite some time. For decades, DMG has been used as a universal tool. Among the magical abilities attributed to B16 are antioxidant properties, strengthening immunity, preventing premature aging and atherosclerosis, treating autism, epilepsy and tumors.

DMG is actively used as a substance that improves physical performance. This is due to two processes, the flow of which directly depends on В16:

  • increased oxygen utilization in the cells of the body;
  • reducing the formation of lactic acid.

These DMG features allow it to be used to treat autism, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, epilepsy, chronic fatigue, and also to increase stamina (in sports, to improve training results).

But the principle of B16 operation in the body has not yet been fully explained. Also, the biochemical properties of DMG allow it to be used as an ester to increase the solubility and bioavailability of some anticancer drugs. Although it is impossible to speak of B16 as a substance against cancer – there is no evidence of the anti-cancer properties of DMG. And in the Soviet Union, calcium pangamate containing DMG was used as a dietary supplement for astronauts and athletes — as a force-enhancing substance due to the supply of oxygen to the body’s cells.

How to enter the body

B16 enters the human body with food. The process of absorption begins in the small intestine, membrane digestion plays an important role in this. It is worth considering the fact that dimethylglycine bound or protected by a shell (in capsules) is absorbed much faster than an unbound and unprotected substance. After this, B16 enters the bloodstream and is transported through the vessels to liver cells. In iron, the main metabolic processes begin and dimethylglycine is first transformed into monomethylglycine, and then into sarcosine.

But the B16 transformations in the human body do not end there. The next step is the processing of sarcosine into glycine, which in turn begins the main action – affects the enzymatic activity.

But such participation is not awaited by the entire B16, ingested with food. Some of it does not pass the process of metabolism in the liver and is transported by the circulatory system through the body, providing B16- “fortification” to neurons. Excess is excreted in the composition of urine and feces.

What is the “unnecessary” vitamin

B16 bio-substance manufacturers claim that a “non-existent” vitamin can strengthen the immune system and stimulate the neurological functions of the body. In addition, as already noted, some studies confirm the effectiveness of dimethylglycine in the treatment of autism and epilepsy. B16 is able to improve the condition of an organism suffering from a lack of oxygen supply, and also regulates the production of lactic acid, which for the most part is formed during times of stress.

But not all doctors believe in the healing properties of B16. “White coats” throughout the world were divided into two groups: supporters of the use of dimethylglycine and more restrained doctors who claim that the therapeutic properties of B16 still have to be checked.

In the meantime, different medical schools argue about the properties of dimethylglycine, we will more carefully consider in which biochemical processes В16 takes part and how the body’s activity changes under the influence of this substance.

What is known about B16

  1. Dimethylglycine is an amino acid that is not part of proteins. It is an “intermediate link” between choline (vitamin B4) and glycine (aminoacetic acid). It takes part in metabolic processes in the body, in the secretion of hormones.
  2. The name “non-existent vitamin” deserved due to the fact that the body is able to work normally without it.
  3. Today B16 is called bioadditive.
  4. Included in the DNA.
  5. It promotes more rapid elimination of alcohol degradation products from the body.
  6. Strengthens the immune system, enriches the cells with oxygen, improves lipid metabolism, reduces the level of cholesterol and glucose in the blood.
  7. It has antioxidant properties.
  8. Regulates blood pressure.
  9. Provides cells with “building materials”, takes part in the process of tissue regeneration.
  10. Improves the performance of many organs.
  11. An effective remedy for epileptic seizures, reduces the number and frequency of seizures.
  12. Enhances oxygenation at the cellular level.

And even though nutritionists say that the lack or complete lack of 16 in the body does not affect the quality of human life, but many experiments have proved the opposite.

Dimethylglycine is able to influence the body in several directions at once: from increasing energy to improving mental activity.

Affect the immune system В16 capable at the level of cells and hormones. Back in 16, for the first time, it was proved that DMG helps break down food into useful elements necessary for the growth and nutrition of the body. During the first scientific experiments, it was found that B1941, like other vitamins, takes part in metabolism, which then made it possible to attribute it to the group of B-substances.

Scientists analyzed the role of В16 for the future mother and child. Interestingly, a higher concentration of DMG and choline is fixed in the fetus itself than in the body of a pregnant woman. This was the basis for the idea that B16 is necessary for the normal development of the fetus. A study of the chemical composition of the plasma of babies showed that children with cystic fibrosis have a lower B16 concentration than healthy ones.

Benefits for the body

Proponents of the theory of the indispensable benefits of B16 for the body also speak of dimethylglycine, as a means important in the fight against free radicals. So, in their opinion, DMG is an effective antioxidant and effective detox agent. Using autism can significantly improve speech, increase eye contact and increase concentration.

Vitamin B16 belongs to the group of substances responsible for chemical reactions in the brain. Therefore, there is reason to talk about DMG as a means of influencing mood, attentiveness, concentration, energy and sexual desire.

Researchers in different countries and at different times have repeatedly proved the effectiveness of 16 in strengthening the cardiovascular system, increasing energy and stamina. A “non-existent” vitamin is also able to affect infections that are completely existing and cause real harm to the body.

Benefits for the body from B16:

  • strengthens the immune system;
  • increases energy and physical abilities, relieves fatigue;
  • regulates the activity of the central nervous system;
  • strengthens mental activity, speed of thinking;
  • plays the role of a powerful antioxidant;
  • slows down cell aging;
  • reduces the frequency of epileptic seizures, convulsions;
  • improves cognitive function in people diagnosed with autism;
  • reduces the level of aggressiveness in diseases of the nervous system;
  • fights addiction to alcohol.

Who can use B16?

And although the attitude of the academic world to B16 is ambiguous, many of the useful properties of the drug have been tested more than once. This fact allows you to enter vitamin as an adjunct in therapy with:

  • atherosclerosis;
  • epilepsy;
  • Leia syndrome;
  • encephalopathy (including alcohol-related illness);
  • Multiple sclerosis;
  • neuropathy;
  • chronic fatigue and reduced performance;
  • mental disorders (including obsessive-compulsive disorder), stress, depression;
  • hypoxia;
  • pneumonia;
  • hepatitis;
  • emphysema;
  • intoxication of various kinds;
  • chlorine poisoning and overdose of antibiotics;
  • alcoholism and drug addiction;
  • high cholesterol and blood sugar;
  • hypertension;
  • disorders of the immune system.

Effect on metabolism

Vitamin B16, or DMG, is thought to affect metabolic processes in the immune and cardiovascular systems, as well as in muscle tissues.

Mainly, the function of B16 is to provide each cell with an additional amount of oxygen, which has a positive effect on metabolic processes.

By regulating the metabolism, dimethylglycine is able to stop the development of metastases in cancer. Meanwhile, the opponents of this theory believe that even this is not a reason to attribute В16 to anticancer drugs.

B16 and Sport

The beneficial properties of dimethylglycine for athletes have been known since the 70 of the last century. True, then under the name B16, pangamic acid was mistakenly used. When it became known about chemical inaccuracies, research began again. And as it turned out, the real B16 with the formula (CH3) 2NCH2COOH also has properties that increase strength in bodybuilders and other athletes. And as a result of experimental dose selection, it was proved that 5 mg DMG per day allows you to extend and increase the intensity of the workout. Other experiments – this time on horses – also pleased the result. It turned out that if you take dimethylglycine in the calculation of 1,6 mg per kilogram of weight, it will not only increase the endurance of the body, but also reduce the content of lactic acid in the blood.

For the treatment of epilepsy

To attribute the glory of epilepsy drugs to B16 – it’s early, they repeat “white coats”, as research continues, and not all the properties of dimethylglycine are studied. Although the results of some observations remain undeniable – DMG does affect the health of patients with epilepsy. Patients taking daily 180 mg B16, suffered from epileptic seizures much less frequently than those in whose diet did not have dimethylglycine.

One of the most striking stories that has flown around the world is the example of an 22 mentally retarded guy with epi-activity. With conservative treatment, every week the young man experienced up to 18 seizures of epilepsy. With the introduction of the substance B16 into the program of his therapy, the number of seizures decreased to a unique indicator – three per week.

With autism

Improving the concentration of attention, increasing mood, reducing outbreaks of aggression and obsessive states with autism – all this is possible with vitamin B16. At least that’s what Dr. Bernard Rimland convinces. The doctor made this conclusion after prolonged observation of patients with a diagnosis of autism. There have been cases, the doctor claims, that after a course of treatment with DMG drugs, children with autistic dumbness began to talk. But so far this is only the personal experience of an individual doctor who shared his observations with the world. Other official studies in this area have not been conducted.

Although after the statement of Dr. Rimland, other doctors also sometimes apply his experience. And what’s important – sometimes it gives more than successful results. In some children, improvement is noted after only several days of using DMG-therapy, and progress in the treatment of speech problems was noted in the first week of receiving B16. An excellent result in the treatment gives a combination of dimethylglycine and folic acid.

Vitamin for the eyes

Ophthalmological diseases in the era of total computerization will not surprise anyone. Eye diseases are diagnosed more often by ophthalmologists, and more and more categories of the population are at risk. But again vitamin B16 is ready to help. There have been cases of successful treatment of cataracts with the help of vitamin B16. One of the tools that can stop cataract growth is DMG. In this case, the substance should be consumed by 250 mg per day.

Influence on immunity

In 1981, S. Graber published an article on the topic of infectious diseases, which dealt with the impact of DMG on AIDS. However, at that time AIDS was called an immunodeficient disease, and the HIV virus has not yet been found. The researcher noticed a pattern: the use of DMG allows 4 to increase the resistance of the immune system to antibodies, and the increased use of oxygen by the tissues and cells of the body (just due to the influence of 16) allows the destruction of free radicals by “whole colonies”. In addition, the combination of B16 with B12 enhances the positive effect of dimethylglycine in the fight against viruses and bacterial infections.

The results of other studies have shown that it is enough to take 12- mg DMG daily for 10 weeks to strengthen the immune system 4 times.

No aging

What is the aging of the body in terms of physiology? The main sign of wilting is that systems and organs are not able to perform their functions. But this can already be said to be a consequence, and the reason lies deeper – at the cellular level. The first stage of aging begins within the cells. And not least they are dying from lack of oxygen … In the context of this problem, it is again relevant to recall the functions of the B16.

It is enough to compare the activity of 20-year-olds and the habits of most people after the age of 35. It would seem what kind of old age can we talk about. But among 30-year-olds, it is increasingly common to give preference to passive rest. Women after 30-ti notice the first changes on the skin, the first wrinkles, and sometimes gray hair, irritability, insomnia come from somewhere, and the liquid drunk in the afternoon “settles” all over the body with edemas … And all this speaks only of one thing – Something in the body began to fail, some systems are not working as clearly as in 20 years … You can continue to realize with bitterness that the years go away, but you can stock up on vitamin B16 and watch the rush of energy, improve sleep, calm nerves, the body “recharged”, ready to throw off with a ten by the years and start counting on a new one.

But researchers are the category of people who do not believe the words, but need confirmation of the practice of each theory voiced. There is no confirmation – there is no reason to believe in the veracity of words. That’s the ability of DMG to influence the aging process, slowing them down, scientists also tested. As “experimental” took more than a hundred older people. All of them were unequivocally confirmed: after the course of taking drugs containing В16, there is a noticeable surge of energy. Enhanced supply of cells with oxygen and more active blood circulation yielded another effect for people of old age – they have improved the state of the nervous and reproductive system.

And B16 can be harmful

No matter how fantastic the effect of dimethylglycine on the human body might seem, taking the drug in uncontrolled doses has a negative effect. You should not self-medicate using a “non-existent vitamin,” since the consequences of an overdose exist and they are quite serious. If you feel worse after taking the drug, the first thing is to consult a doctor.

You can not take B16:

  • children under the age of 7;
  • people with glaucoma;
  • patients with severe hypertension;
  • if the daily lifestyle does not include physical activity;
  • pregnant women;
  • during lactation;
  • if there is intolerance to B16.

Is there a shortage of “non-existent” vitamin

And although the deficiency of B16 usually does not show any symptoms, yet its lack often affects the quality of life. But still, why does DMG have no visible signs of deficiency? The fact is that B16 is able to metabolize in the body independently and there is no need to artificially replenish its reserves daily. Therefore, the body does not send SOS signals.

What happens in the body in the absence of B16:

  1. The number of red blood cells drops sharply.
  2. Decreases performance, immunity, metabolism deteriorates.
  3. Deficiency can cause almost any disease.

But overdose, according to pharmacists, dimethylglycine is impossible. However, is this true – with the 100-percent guarantee, science cannot answer. Therefore, in order to avoid unpleasant consequences, it is better not to exceed the dose recommended in the instructions for use.

It should also be remembered that the interaction of B16 with other drugs, dietary supplements, herbs, and alcohol is little studied.

Sources of

From the point of view of physiology, B16 is a choline bio product that circulates in the body in very small doses and only for a few seconds. But vitamin B16 is inherent in the cells of the organisms of the animal and plant world, is in some foods.

Products Suppliers В16:

  • liver (chicken);
  • Red caviar;
  • sea fish;
  • eggs (quail, chicken);
  • beans;
  • cereals (especially rice and buckwheat);
  • seeds (pumpkin, sesame);
  • nuts (peanuts, almonds, walnuts);
  • Brewer’s yeast;
  • milk;
  • sauerkraut;
  • spinach.

Who and how much

Taking vitamin b16 as a dietary supplement is primarily important for people who are hard physically working, as well as during a period of strong nervous shock, serious emotional stress. You can drink the substance for the prevention of colds and viral diseases. What is especially useful for people with reduced immunity, in need of increased endurance.

Dosage:

  • for children up to 3 years – 50 mg;
  • up to 7 years – 100 mg;
  • up to 14 years – 150 mg;
  • adults – 100-300 mg.

Take drugs containing B16, preferably with food or use the substance in ampoules for injection. Reception course – no longer 2 months. If desired, repeat, but not earlier than in 6 months. There are symptoms of indisposition or allergic reactions – stop taking the drug and consult a doctor.

Supplementing with dimethylglycine is necessary for people who are professionally involved in sports and are exposed to severe physical, mental or psychological stress.

And although B16 is called a dietary supplement that does not cause allergies, no one has repealed the number one rule in health care: the main thing in treatment and prevention is not to overdo it, take vitamins, minerals and dietary supplements with intelligence and measure and remember why there is an instruction for the use of medications .

If ever it will be possible to create a “perpetual motion machine”, then the basis for it will undoubtedly be the vitamin B16. Most people who are familiar with the capabilities of dimethylglycine, even in general terms, are inclined to this idea. Meanwhile, there are many opinions, often controversial, about the benefits of B16.

Some see the DMG as a panacea for all ills, others also vigorously defend their own: the amazing results of treatment with B16 are nothing more than a banal … placebo effect. What dimethylglycine actually is, today it is difficult to answer unequivocally. Maybe over time, the “dark horse” B16 will reveal its secrets? ..
